Hopefully, you’ve read my link on Dark Chocolate, the Kuna and Raw, Unprocessed Cocoa. All of these show the power of cocoa, or cacao in some circles, over high blood pressure, erectile issues, heart disease and on and on. If you’ve read up on the issue, you know that there are two issues with all of this:

1.  Almost all standard, processed cocoas in the store (at least in the U.S.) are highly processed and virtually devoid of flavonoid content.

2.  Raw, unprocessed cocoa tastes bad, especially for those who aren’t used to it.

So what’s a fella to do?  Can’t he have his cake and eat it to?

Well, I suggest a couple of inexpensive ways to do just that in my book on Erections and Diet.  However, there is another very good way that I want to discuss here:  Xocai chocolate. You can check out Xocai Chocolate Bar Options and see the various chocolate bars and “nuggets” that they have available.

Do you know the foods and drinks that increase erection-boosting Nitric Oxide? Check out the Peak Erectile Strength Diet where I show you how to dramatically and naturally improve your erectile strength.

The big plus for those with sensitive palattes is that Xocai has come up with very good tasting chocolate that somehow completely masks the strong, overwhelming flavor of raw cocoa.  Their solid chocolates are sold as nuggets and two types of squares.  I have tried all of them, and in my opinion the taste was excellent.

More important than the taste, my estimate for how much the Xocai chocolate – and I am talking about two small squares/nuggets per day – lowered my blood pressure by 5-10 points systolic.  This is a very nice drop for eating something quite delicious.

The only issue that you’ll probably with Xocai is the price:  you can’t order anything for less than a $120 from what I have seen. For example, if you order the Nuggets, you get 100 of them and each is 12 grams. A good blood-pressure-lowering dose would probably be three nuggets per day for most people and, therefore, a box of 100 will last you about a month.

So, if you’ve got the money – around 4-5 $/day – and a desire to pull down your blood pressure using more natural means, it may be a nice way to avoid the unpleasant raw, cacao flavor. Otherwise, you’ll have to look into some of the less expensive alternatives mentioned above.

CAUTION:  Always work with your doc when it comes to high blood pressure.

VEGANS and VEGETARIANS:  Some Xocai chocolate is vegan and some contains some dairy and, therefore, is vegetarian.

One of the Xocai representatives pointed out that that Valrhona was priced at about $6.99 a bar and Mast Brothers at $8.99 per bar and then stated that while “both of these products are very good, I consider both of these products candy, not a functional food, like our chocolate. Neither of these products list the amount of antioxidants. I wonder why….If they did, it would validate the nutritional value of their products, just like it does for our products.”

He does have good points there, so it really comes down to cost.  Xocai is kind of the “Nebraska Steaks” or “Vital Choice” of the chocolate world. In fact, if you live in warm country like I do, Xocai will actually mail it in dry ice packed in stirofoam using two-day air, very similar to these other big shippers of food products. It may well be worth it to help improve the ol’ love life and cardiovascular system, oui oui?
